The Consulate General of Mexico in New York and its Cultural Institute proudly organized a series of events to commemorate Mexico’s Independence Day.
The celebrations began with a symbolic ceremony at one of the world’s most iconic landmarks, the Empire State Building, which was illuminated in the colors of the Mexican flag. The event was led by Consul General Marcos Bucio, accompanied by renowned cultural figures and representatives of Mexico’s military and naval attachés to the United Nations.
In Brooklyn, the traditional Grito de Independencia was celebrated in Sunset Park, where music, dance, and a sea of Mexican flags transformed the neighborhood into a vibrant reflection of Mexico’s spirit. The event brought together the community in an atmosphere of joy and pride, underscoring the enduring strength of cultural roots across borders.
As part of the patriotic month, the Consul General also met with business leaders in New York at a reception organized by the U.S.–Mexico Chamber of Commerce. This gathering highlighted the importance of strengthening ties and fostering binational economic development between Mexico and the United States.
