NARRATIVE WORKSHOP WITH “LA COVA”, FEATURING XIMENA SANTAOLALLA AND SARA CASANOVAS

The Consulate General of Mexico in New York, through its Cultural Institute, proudly organized a Creative Writing Workshop in collaboration with Nostra Cova, led by esteemed Mexican writers Sara Casanovas and Ximena Santaolalla.

This initiative was part of a special outreach effort coordinated by the Cultural Institute to engage members of the Mexican migrant community residing in New York. The primary objective was to create an inclusive and empowering space where participants could explore the written word as a means of personal expression, cultural affirmation, and community building.

The response to the call was overwhelmingly positive. The workshop was attended by a diverse group of individuals who brought with them a rich array of experiences and perspectives. Their active and enthusiastic participation turned the session into a vibrant forum for storytelling, reflection, and mutual learning.

Throughout the event, attendees engaged deeply with the writing exercises and shared original texts, demonstrating a strong sense of identity, creativity, and emotional resonance. The session not only highlighted the literary talent within our community but also reaffirmed the importance of cultural initiatives that provide visibility and voice to migrant populations.
